Royal Crescent Hotel: managing this luxury hotel in the heart of Bath with General Manager Lorraine Jarvie.
In this episode, I made a rare trip to meet face-to-face with the super stylish Lorraine Jarvie, General Manager of the five-star Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath.
The Royal Crescent Hotel is classed as one of the top 2% of all hotels in the UK, with five red stars.
It has 40 bedrooms, 140 staff (180 during busy periods), and a reputation for standards that challenge even the most experienced of General Managers. Lorraine has an amazing career pedigree which landed her this cream of hotel roles.
With Bridgerton being all the craze – even Jennifer Lopez had a Bridgerton birthday themed party, I just had to get someone on the show to talk about the impact it’s having on the city of Bath.
We chat about:
> Lorraine’s career working for brand such as Malmaison and Hotel du Vin and her path to working at the Royal Crescent.
> The fascinating history of the hotel and how the Royal Crescent was one of the roughest areas of Bath in the 1980s and 90s.
> How the American and Middle Eastern markets are busy with the Chinese market definitely coming back.
> Types of guests that are willing to pay upwards of £1,100 for a junior suite.
> The impact of the international interest in the Netflix series Bridgerton and film tourism on the hotel and Bath as a visitor destination.
> Recruiting trained staff to the service level required.
> Launching a new set of toiletries with Jo Loves – the first hotel range in association with Jo Malone outside of London.
> The Golden Keys concierge team who can access pretty much anything their guests require in the UK – no one else has this status in the West Country.
> Her favourite places: Iford Manor and Castle Farm, Midford.
